Wemoto shop - Interesting Visitors
Nice shiny Norton rolled up at Wemoto - here are some photos
We had another interesting visitor at Wemoto on Monday. We’re actually very lucky we just sit here in the sunshine and very cool bikes come and see us – doesn’t get much better than that!
On Monday it was this beautiful 600cc Norton Dominator 99 built in 1960. The engine in this one just preceded the famous 650SS engine which was supposed to be the best ever.
This one has a Norton Commando brake and a little spacer in there somewhere from the owners very first Norton 88 which he owned in 1965 – is that for luck?
It has an SS cam and HC pistons so runs on super petrol with additive. It has no choke so it's a question of guessing how warm it is and tickling the carbs appropriately. Apparently ‘it can be a pig when it’s only half warm’. The tank is from a race bike.
The owner wants a 350 rigid back end single Velo or BSA next to add to his collection and potter around on.
Anyway great to see this bike and great to see the sun too – more of both hopefully as summer approaches.
