A foot operated throttle for your scooter
How do you feel about having a foot operated throttle on your scooter?

Best foot forward - fancy one of these...but with a foot operated throttle?
A scooter with an additional foot operated throttle? Why you might well ask? Well Honda are innovating again and switching the car throttle method to some scooters, according to patent filings published by Motorrad. The intention is, apparently, to make life easier for the rider. With operator comfort as the main driver, Honda says the rider’s hand will be able to have a rest, while the foot takes over, rather than having to use the hand only at all times when riding.
The throttle on the new machines will be operated by the right foot, like on a car. Many riders will also be car drivers and be used to using a foot operated throttle in their cars, so the reflexes for car drivers will go some way towards being right already. It won’t be a total change over though, the twist throttle will still be there on the handlebar, but the throttle pedal will be an addition.
The machine shown in the documents is a hybrid vehicle which operates via an electric and a combustion engine.
There is no proposed date for the foot throttle to go into production and it hasn't been officially revealed yet, but it is an interesting concept from Honda. Let’s wait and see what happens.
