Beyond The Bend
Animal waste powered three-wheeler motorcycle crusies the streets of Tokyo
The world's first waste-powered motorcycle was revealed on Wednesday by Toto (no, not the dog from The Wizard of Oz - this story is odd enough already without that), Japan's most famous toilet manufacturer! Toto's spokesman Kenji Fujita assured worried reporters that the rider shown here riding the bike in a Tokyo suburb, did not provide the 'gas' instead the biogas which powers it comes from livestock waste and sewage - lovely.

Poo Power
The motorcycle has a pretty good range and can travel up to 300 kilometres on one tank of animal waste. How it smells has not been reported at this point...
If you want one..
Sadly Toto has no plans to commercialise this vehicle at this stage, perhaps if they were to it might required a slight redesign as it is currently a three-wheeler with a giant toilet and toilet roll on board. It might not have the desirability factor of your average street bike - although for a niche market who knows....it's certainly easy on the eye.
A spokesman from Toto says:
The function of this attractive motorcycle is...
"To raise awareness among customers about our green campaign through development of environmentally-friendly products such as water-saving showerheads and water-saving toilets,"
Happiness is a Warm Bum
Toto makes an all-encompassing range of toilets equipped with various luxury features including heated seats and ambient background music - how fantastic, I want one which plays "Beyond the Bend " by Elvis!
