Camier passed fit to race at Jerez WSBK

Leon Camier passes medical for racing

FIXI Crescent Suzuki’s Leon Camier has successfully passed a medical test at the Jerez circuit in Spain to enable him to compete in this weekend’s final round of the eni FIM Superbike World Championship.

Camier has missed the last two rounds following a huge accident at Istanbul Park in Turkey last month. He broke seven bones is his right foot and following surgery to repair the damage he underwent a thorough and comprehensive recuperation programme to regain his fitness, with the target being this weekend’s race in Spain. Camier has successfully managed that task after being given an all-clear to participate in Friday’s first qualifying session.

The Englishman will be back onboard his Yoshimura-powered Suzuki GSX-R from tomorrow morning at Jerez, looking to push for a competitive result in this Sunday’s two races and end the season in a positive manner.

Paul Denning –Team Manager said:

“As a team, we all have to give Leon huge credit to even be joining us here at Jerez today, let alone passing a fitness test and intending to race. His Istanbul injuries were very complex and nearly every specialist said it would be at least six-weeks before he would be able to put any weight on the foot, but now just four-weeks after leaving hospital in Turkey, Leon is ready to race! He and his team have made every effort, 24-hours-a-day, to recover this quickly and he’s been through a lot to make it happen. Whatever results we get on track will be a bonus; just to be here is a huge testament to Leon’s commitment.”

Info from Team Suzuki Press Office – October 17.
