Hanway G30 or should that be Ximalaya Mountain Range?

The Chinese G30 motorcycle - Royal Enfield Himalayan, spot the difference?

It looks a bit like a Royal Enfield Himalayan, it sounds a bit like a Royal Enfield Himalayan, it must be… a Chinese Hanway G30 motorcycle! The Royal Enfield Himalayan is a very successful bike which has gained a large and faithful following and massive popularity due to its great design, robust build quality and old school retro simplicity. So perhaps Chinese Hanway saw a good opportunity to cash in on the adventure bike's success, by creating a bike that was just a tad similar to the Royal Enfield adventure bike!

Looking great for beginners and an all round versatile go anywhere bike, the Hanway G30 has a very similar wheel base, seat height and weight to the Himalayan, after all it's a formula which works. Some things are different though, like the G30's TFT dashboard, although that is a bit like the display on small to mid KTM bikes. Still perhaps originality is a bit overrated, after all if it ain't broke don't fix it and perhaps something truly unique, I'm thinking Sinclair C5 for example, might not catch on so it makes sense to stick with the tried and tested even if it is a bit derivative!

On closer inspection the G30 has a lot more technical features than the Himalayan so is this what people really want these days, or is part of the charm of the Himalayan that it is simplicity itself?

The Hanway G30 does have up to the minute features like a large full colour TFT display screen, LED lights, tubeless tires and inverted forks. The engine is a 249cc liquid cooled 25bhp single cylinder engine. The brakes are 280mm and 240 mm discs front and back with dual channel ABS.

What do you think, do you like the idea of a Himalayan lookalike with added tech? I guess it all depends also on build quality and reliability and how much tech you want, would you go for a Hanway G30?
