Interesting Visitors - Moto Mavericks

2 Dudes, 2 WR250Rs, 2 Years

Ever dreamt of packing up your gear, saying goodbye to your everyday life and setting off on your bike for an adventure that lasts longer than your average holiday entitlement would allow? For most of us, sadly, this remains a dream. But for CJ Peake and John Kincade, it's a reality. Seven months ago they left their homes in Vancouver on two WR250Rs to go on a two-year bike ride around the world, taking the muddiest, most desolate and scary roads they could find. And during their UK part of the journey, they stopped in to say hi.

If you haven't read about them already, they're the MotoMavericks, and they've been blogging about their trip on Adventure Rider. So far, they've gone from Canada to the US, Mexico, Costa Rice, Colombia, Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, Argentina, and to the UK. For the next leg of their journey they'll be riding to Magadan, Russia, following some of the Sibersky Extreme Trail, before heading on to Japan and then who knows...

For these guys it's more about the riding than the travelling and, as such, they are constantly on the move. They've stayed with a few friends during their adventure but they're mostly camping, which explains why their bikes were kitted out with a very suspect looking machete, axe and shovel when they came to see us.

Their bikes were purchased last April specifically for their trip and they've been doing plenty of maintenance throughout, documenting and sharing it with followers of the thread. They'd planned to do more work whilst in the UK, and after getting the required parts from us and sharing a few of their tales, they set off to continue their journey.

If you like reading about thrilling rides, exciting people and places, and motorcycle maintenance, then check these guys out. Only 8 months in, they still have a long way to go. We wish them all the best and look forward to reading the updates on the rest of their adventure.

Have you been on a trip like this before? Drop us a line at [email protected], we'd love to hear about it.
