Just add water
There's another concept bike on the drawing board – this time with a difference – it's powered by water!
The Motorcycle is a Yamaha XT 500 H20, great to look at and eventually, perhaps, totally fume free! Invented for 2025, in theory only at this point, by Maxime Lefebvre, this motorcycle is an eco dream while looking the business at the same time. The perennially popular Yamaha XT500 was originally born in 1976 so it has good looks and a good pedigree, and this is how it could evolve in years to come.
The motor is petrol free and utilises a closed loop H20 engine to pump water through to power it – who knew? The Victorians used the potential of water to power engines in the form of steam but needed to heat it first – time we thought of a modern take on it. The chassis design is a blend of old and new and retains the XT500s personality with a slightly household appliance look, but it's totally clean to run.
It's just a question of turning the dream into a reality, but all great engineering feats and ideas started off as just that – ideas. Lefebvre has had a lightbulb moment and, speaking of which, they say that it took Edison 1000 attempts to invent the lightbulb, so we're looking forward to seeing this on the road one day. So do you like it and what does it remind you of, just a tensy bit? We know what we think... Let us know by emailing
