Voice Control On Motorcycles Is Really Becoming A Thing

Image
Hands free? It's obviously the shape of things to come, voice activated assistants are using artificial intelligence to answer our questions at home, increasingly in our cars – now this technology is moving swiftly over into motorcycles.

Italian company Energica, in collaboration with Cellularline and Alascom are working together on a voice control motorcycle system to rival the smartphone Voice Control System from Honda.

The Africa Twin is getting Android Auto and Apple Carplay is incoming. The main focus behind these features is that it is safer to issue commands using your voice while riding a motorcycle, than to press touchscreens. In a way on a bike it makes even more sense to be hands free, so a voice activated system could potentially make things easier. The issue might be that it is noisier on a motorcycle with wind and traffic noise and full face helmets, so will Hondalexa actually hear you ok? Let's hope they've thought of a way round that.

The Energica idea is that an artificial intelligence system will be fitted to the bike to listen to your commands and manage the bike's essential functions.
Here's their take on it:

“Thanks to this innovative communication system, the driver will be able to find information about his vehicle easily and without distraction while driving: Alascom uses artificial intelligence to guide you To create voice assistants that improve the motorcyclist's driving experience, with intuitive voice commands that aim to manage and control the essential functions of the motorcycle."

Is this a good thing to help us out and will it make life easier, will we end up just leaning back with our feet up on the handlebars while Siri-Bike takes us home? Is that something you look forward to? Let us know at [email protected] or drop us a message on Facebook.
