A great family day out for all motorcycle enthusiasts

Here's a great date for your diary -  April the 19th sees the Engineerium Classic Motorcycle Run rise Phoenix-like to meet the Spring sunshine after a five year break!

Now run jointly by the Rotary in Brighton & Hove and the Sussex British Motorcycle Owners Club, this promises to be a really interesting day for all motorcycle and sidecar enthusiasts and a great family day out too.

Taking place on April 19th at Blatchington Mill School, Nevill Avenue, Hove, BN3 7BW, this promises to be  a really fun day.

Entries for the run are pouring in already, as riders of motorcycles from every era from pre 1918 veteran motorcycles to state of the art modern machines, welcome back this classic event. The day will start with motorcycles and sidecars congregating at Blatchington Mill School at 9am for registration and then at 10.15am they will set off for a run into the beautiful rolling Sussex countryside.

The machines will follow different routes depending on their age – a 35 mile run for lower powered older classic and veteran machines and a 65 mile route to put the more modern machines through their paces.  It's a great opportunity to see all these fascinating machines in action as they roar off into the countryside.

All the entrants will return to the start for judging from 12.30 onwards and awards will be handed out from 14.30 so this is a great opportunity to examine the machines at close quarters. The Award categories for the amazing range of motorcycles and sidecars that will be there, are as follows:

A - up to 1950
B - up to 1960
C - up to 1970
D - up to 1980
E - up to 1990
F - modern

There will also be a chance to meet local celebrity author Peter James whose books are now international best sellers, as he will be presenting the Awards.

The Rotary Club’s hugely popular British Engineerium Classic Motorcycle Run last ran from the Engineerium in Hove in 2010 and was always a great and very well attended event so it is great to see it back, and of course it is all for charity too.

It costs a modest £10 to enter and the programme is only £1. All the proceeds go to the organisers two charities – the Sussex British Motorcycle Club charity is the Camilla Botnar Childrens' Charity and the Rotary's charity is Macmillan Cancer Care so it's all for good causes.

There will be tea, coffee and refreshments available, as well as the feast of motorcycle and sidecar delights. It's great to see a bit of living history in action.
