Transmission and Drivetrain
The UK’s largest range of motorcycle chains and sprockets
Transmission and Drivetrain
Wemoto stocks a fully comprehensive range of Drivetrain and Transmission Parts including a multitude of Motorcycle Chains and Sprockets. Keeping your Motorcycle Chain in great condition is vital to the functioning of your machine. There are a few checks you can do if you are not sure whether it is time to invest in a new chain or not: the rollers should rotate freely without too much lateral movement in the chain – there should be some give in the chain, but no bagginess when it’s twisted about an axis perpendicular to the ground and there should be no more than 3 or 4mm of movement if you pull the chain away from the rear sprocket at the point furthest away from the front sprocket. If you have run out of adjustment on the chain you could remove a couple of links and rejoin the chain, but this is not recommended as the stretched chain will be wearing your sprockets out, better just to bite the bullet and invest in a new one.
Motorcycle Chain Choices, Wemoto has chain pitches from 420 to 630, in Standard Roller Chain, Heavy Duty, O-ring or X-ring and even Gold Link options for a bit of bling. There are motorcycle chains in stock from trusty tried and tested manufacturers like D.I.D and Regina for example, available for all modern machines and many older classic bikes. As well as chains and links, Wemoto offers a full stock of Chain Rollers, Drive Belts, Automatic Transmission Parts, and Front and Rear Sprockets. Simply check the listing for your bike to see the Transmission and Drivetrain parts which are available. Correct lubrication and adjustment will keep your chain healthy for as long as possible and to help with this Wemoto stocks Chain Rivet or Spring Links, Chain Guards, Breaking and Riveting Tools, Chain Wax, Lubrication and Scottoilers.
Motorcycle Sprockets You don’t have to replace your sprockets as often as your chain but it is a good idea to keep a close eye on them and change them if they are showing any signs of wear. One sign of sprocket wear to look out for is ‘hooking’ where the teeth appear to be leaning over at the top, if you notice this then it is time to change your chain and sprockets straight away. It can be good practice to change them when you change your chain anyway, as they can be worn without showing many external signs. Wemoto has the UK’s most comprehensive range of sprockets available, including over 700 front and 1200 rear sprockets to choose from. The rear ones come in steel or lightweight alloy, and with more or fewer teeth, to enable you to change your gearing ratio for faster top speeds or acceleration.
