Top Mountain Crosspoint Museum goes up in flames

200 Amazing Machines Destroyed in Museum Fire

Famous for it's diverse collection of vintage motorcycles and some cars and vans, and for being the highest museum in Europe, the Top Mountain Crosspoint Museum was a unique and offbeat space full of motorcycle treasures.

During the night on January the 18th at around 4am, the wooden Top Mountain Crosspoint Motorcycle Museum in the Austrian Alps caught fire, destroying over 200 amazing machines.

It was built high up at 2175m on the border between Austria and Italy and opened in 2016 containing a really fascinating collection of motorcycles with great historical significance. Amongst the collection were gems like these: 1920 Anzani racing motorcycle, Brough Superior, Vincent, Matchless, 1923 Harley-Davidson, MV Agusta, Sunbeam and a 1970 Münch Mammut.

The destruction of so much history is very sad, the museum had been closed since November due to covid restrictions and it was the middle of the night so it doesn't appear that anyone was hurt so that's the one good thing.
This fire is a great loss to motorcycle history with some of the machines being truly irreplaceable.
